Our Mission
The New Mexico Ethics Alliance seeks to foster and sustain ethical cultures and conduct within New Mexico communities, businesses, organizations and governments by providing and supporting:
• Ethics standards
• Ethics education, learning opportunities and awareness
• Resources to support organizational needs, and
• Recognition of ethical behavior
When Founded?
The idea for a New Mexico ethics consortium began in 2003 in discussions between local businesses. Business leaders identified the need for standards, education, resources, and support to assist New Mexico organizations in building ethical cultures. A steering committee formed an implementation team to research the feasibility and need for an organization dedicated to the topic of organizational ethics. The group officially established as a non-profit organization in 2006.
Why a New Mexico ethics alliance?
The need for improved ethical behavior has been highlighted in recent years by numerous scandals and notorious examples of ethical misconduct found across the business, government and non-profit sectors. The strength that comes from the large numbers of organizations and the diversity of the state’s industries coming together to focus on this topic will support New Mexico organizations in building ethical cultures.
Who are members of the Ethics Alliance?
Members can be individuals or organizations. They are people who care about the ethical climate of our state and are committed to fostering and sustaining an ethical culture within the organizations to which they belong. Member organizations represent business, government and not-for-profit organizations. There is a special membership rate for individuals who are currently enrolled as students.
